Apple bounces back as the courtroom conversation turns to icons and iPads
Yesterday may not have been the best day in court for Apple , but Cupertino rebounded today, calling several witnesses that were able to effectively argue its case — while Samsung received another slap from Judge Lucy Koh. Samsung began the day by accusing Apple of tampering with one of the joint exhibits — an Epic Touch 4G — to make its icon layout look more like the iPhone. Samsung claimed to have learned of the issue over the weekend, and presented an alternative picture it said was taken Sunday night.

Internet Archive hopes to make a million files download faster with BitTorrent links
The Internet Archive, a vast repository of free public domain movies, books, music, and more, is releasing a million files as torrents that it hopes will be faster and require fewer resources than traditional downloads. The torrents look to have been partially rolled out as of last month, but now a much larger number are available, letting users download live music shows or horror classic Night of the Living Dead among other things. Users who don’t want to use torrents can still download the files directly.

Lenovo’s known for making good laptops much more than it’s known for making attractive laptops, but when the company announced the ThinkPad X1 Carbon in May it seemed to have checked both boxes. Now the company’s revealed when you’ll actually be able to get an X1 Carbon into your hands: August 21st. The 14-inch, three-pound ultrabook is all of 18mm thick at its thickest point, and will come in several different configurations ranging from $1,399 to $1,849. The base price gets you a 1.7GHz Intel Core i5-3317U processor and a 128GB SSD, and you get more storage and more processing power as you move up the price tiers (there’s also a 3G option available in all but the base model)
