Amazon’s Game Center competitor expands beyond the Kindle Fire, can run on any Android device

Amazon introduced Whispersync for Games last year alongside its updated Kindle Fire hardware , promising game syncing and leaderboards that worked across multiple Kindle Fire devices. However, standard Android devices were left out, until now — a post on Amazon’s mobile developer blog indicates that the GameCircle technology that powers Whispersync for Games can now be built into any game, not just ones built specifically for the Kindle Fire. We’re not sure how many developers will choose to work with the more limited Amazon-only solution instead of Google’s recently-announced Play game services , but it’s yet another option to help people get more from their mobile games.
