Samsung and Microsoft introduce hybrid hard drive
MS and Samsung at WinHEC introduced their new HHD designed for use in the next generation of Windows. It’s outfitted with a 1Gbit NAND flash buffer and it only spins up the platters and writes to the drive when its good and full.
Sounds like a great drive, more of a leap in HD technology than those 10,000 rpm drives, in my mind at least.

SnapStream Betas New PVR software that also TimeShifts FM.
I am a big SnapStream Fan. It is like TiVo, but only better. I can pause live tv, move shows to my pocketPC, stream live and recorded shows to all the PCs in my house. They are about to take it to the next level with there next release of Beyond TV.
Here is an excerpt from an email where SnapStream talks about the future release of Beyond TV:
“Codename Retro The second option, for our more adventurous testers, is the new “Codename Retro” set of builds. Retro is the name for our next generation product that includes a number of cool features (some of which are so top secret we can’t even mention them yet
). The first feature is the ability to back capture live tv. This means that if you’ve watched a show in live tv and decide to keep it, when you hit “record” it will record all of the show back to where you started recording it. Also new is the ability to listen to and time shift FM radio. If you have a tuner card with a radio input, you will be able to listen to all of your favorite stations through Beyond TV. As well, you can pause, fast forward and rewind just like you can in Live TV. The first Retro build will be available in the next few days with new features coming over the next few months. Right now, a public releaseof Retro is scheduled for the summer time frame and will be available for a small upgrade fee.”
