I just got back for Gnomedex, and it was great. I have to 100 feet from my office to attend, but it was worth it. If you don’t know what Gnomedex it can be described as a Geek Convention, but I would describe it as a convention of the Tech Savvy. I meet several top tech gods and they are more like Extreme Sports guys then like NASA Nerds. You got to check out www.LockerGnome.com. 9) Gnomedex is a place where it is cool to carry a laptop, ware geeky glasses, don a PDA on your belt, complain about Outlook scripts and Raw Sockets, and argue over the virtues of Linux Vs Microsoft.

7) Great Events. Parties, Noshes, a live performance of Online Tonight, and an Open Bar.

6) Des Moines is a great place for a convention. Hope it is here next year.

5) FUN. Everything was done light hearted, and funny. I never laugh and Comdex.

4) PocketPC Stuff. I like the fact that Microsoft showed off its PocketPC Stuff. Most big companies would not show up to a small conference in Des Moines.

3) Meet fellow Gnomies. They are all just so cool.

2) Tech Gods. (Like.. Mark Thompson, Steve Gibson, Doc Searls, and Phil “Pud” Kaplan). Most conferences are just a lot of Sales Cruft.

1) Access to guys like Chris Pirillo, and Leo Laporte.
